Dr. Karen Hofmann, Owner/Veterinarian

I was born and raised on a cattle ranch in Eastern Washington following close beside my mom who is also a veterinarian. Through her, I developed my love and desire to nurture and care for all creatures. After graduating from Vet school at WSU, I worked with my mom for six months, then moved to northern California to practice with a classmate of my mom's for a couple of years. Shortly after moving back to Washington, I then worked at Phinney Ridge for several years before venturing into practice ownership. Previously owned by Dr. Alicia Carlos, I began practicing as an owner of Maple Leaf Pet Corner in 2006.

My Husband, Colin, our son, Cody, and our daughter, Kristy love to visit my hometown Republic, WA where we spend time horseback riding, raising cattle, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with our family. We have two dogs, a cat, and four horses. Our four horses are named, Mickey, Arrows, Spot and Hunter.

Joanna Hamai, Licensed Veterinary Technician

I’ve been in Seattle for 10 years and live with my two cats (Manju and Katsu), and husband Elliott.  I graduated from University of Washington in 2010 then pursued my career as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at PIMA medical institute ’12.  I have been working with Maple Leaf Pet Corner since 2011.

Heather Montgonery, Licensed Veterinary Technician

I have always had animals- dogs, cats, rabbits, birds. They have been a part of my family and i just enjoyed taking care of them. I volunteered at a shelter and realized i wanted to work with the animal/vet community full-time.

I currently have a dog named Macy who is a Flat Coat Ret./ Border Collie mix. She is a sweet, gentle, active girl. She loves to hike and play in the snow. I also have a cat named Squishy who is a black rescue Persian with one eye. Squishy does not like to be held or brushed, she just likes to sit next to someone and be petted. Lastly, I have another kitty names Lucy who is an older tabby/tortie who is a lap cat.

My hobbies include reading, going to the park with my daughter and cooking/ baking. I worked emergency medicine for nearly 11 years and ran the Acces Blood Bank during that time..

Jordan Francis, Veterinary Technician

I've been in Seattle for three years since moving away from my home town in north Florida.  I love the Pacific Northwest and all the amazing hiking trails it has to offer.  I graduated from PIMA's veterinary assistant program in 2014 and became part of the team here the next year.  I plan on going back to PIMA for their veterinary technician program and becoming a licensed tech in the near future.  At home, I've got three goofy ferrets, Dib, Gaz, and Gir, who love getting into trouble when they're not snoozing in their hammock.  I love working with animals and look forward to many rewarding years in this field.

Emily Parker, Veterinary Assistant

I discovered my passion for caring for animals when my Grandmother bred Labrador Retrievers when she was growing up. I currently have Muta, my 1 year old cat. Muta was bitten by a dog on the skull at only 3 months old and I did not think he would make it. I nursed Muta back to health and decided to adopt him! He is a very anxious but quirky kitty. He loves catching all of the bugs in the house and sleeps on my shoulder most nights.

Some of my hobbies, outside of caring for animals, include reading, listening to and playing music, drawing, painting, riding my bike, hiking and watching TV! I am from Idaho and encountered a lot of wildlife and ranch animals growing up. I live in Seattle and am studying marine biology at Seattle Central Community College, then will attend University of Washington!

Rita Gillespie, Receptionist

I am a native Seattle-lite, but have lived in Bothell for 18 years. I've always loved animals and in 1999 I decided to join the veterinary field where I went to Pima medical to become a certified veterinary assistant. I have six cats: Scrappy, who loves to tease his little sisters daily; Sissy and Buffy, the princess of the house and the caretaker of everyone; Pepper, lives in the kitchen (she claims her domain); Sinatra, my little cross eyed boy and Trixie, adopted from Maple Leaf Pet Corner where we bonded at first sight. Other than spending time with my pets, I like to read, watch movies and hang out with friends and family.

Tracy Morales, Veterinary Assistant

I've lived in Maple Leaf for the last 20 years, I love it here. I have a wonderful husband Mark and three awesome boys, Kyle, Kevin and Migel. I enjoy family time, long walks with my dog "Cookie", working out and  doing crafts. After completing PIMA's veterinary assistant program I joined the crew here at maple leaf in 2015.

Ariana Gordon, Office Manager/Recptionist

I have always loved animals growing up. I grew up around dogs my entire life and right when I was able to get my own pets after I finished college, I did! I now have 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 turtles. I have a black and white cat named Eli, a tortie cat named Fae, a Husky/Malamute named Galaxy and a Lab/German Shepherd mix named Ivy, and the turtles names are Ally and Tiny Tim. All of my animals are under the age of 2, so it is quite the zoo at my house, but I would not want it any other way!

My hobbies include hiking and camping with my husband and dogs, reading, and just hanging out at the house with all of my animals. I grew up in Maple Valley then moved to California for 10 years, then my husband and I decided to move back to Washington which is how I ended up here! Maple Leaf Pet Corner is amazing and I will always take my pets here to see Dr. Hofmann and Dr. Peterson!
